1995 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4
This is my first car and the one that has taught me the most lessons. It's been through a handful of engines and forced induction, perfecting the vision I had for it when I first started wrenching on it. The first iteration was swapping out the 5.7 350 for a Gen IV LS 6.0. later I added a cam and other bolt ones, but eventually the quest for more power lead me to installing a junkyard turbo on a homemade turbo kit with a shoestring budget. A few more iterations with different turbos, hot sides, and cold sides eventually wore out the synchros on the NV4500 transmissions that was never meant to handle the fast shifts needed during a drag race. The latest setup is an L84 from a 2019 Silverado using our adapters to attach a Hellcat supercharger. A TR6060 with AWD transfer case is in the works to complete out this build and get some respectable ETs.
2013 Mercedes C250
Originally meant as a "reliable" daily driver, the engine lost compression on 1 cylinder of the 4 cylinder turbo. This lead me to explore other options after seeing how much a used replacement engine would cost. The new drivetrain i chose is a L83 with an 8 speed 8L90 from a 2016 Silverado that I already had left over from a previous project. The combination was a surprising success with the crossmember being in the perfect location and the driveshaft only needing to be shortened a few inches. The only clearance that I had to make was on the hood brace to make room for the large truck intake. I made a module to translate the can signals between the Mercedes and GM ECU, all of the original functions in the car still work from push button start to the AC. We will soon be putting together a swap kit for the W204 chassis.
